Portfolio sites are interesting to design because the goal is to get out of the way. The website itself should be clean and minimal so the work is what people notice. But minimal does not mean boring. The typography, spacing, transitions, and image presentation all need to be carefully considered.
We design custom gallery layouts for each portfolio type. Photographers need large images with minimal distraction. Architects need project case studies with multiple images and descriptions. Graphic designers need a mix of full-bleed images and detail shots. We do not use a one-size-fits-all gallery template.
Image-heavy sites can be slow if not handled properly. We optimize every image, implement lazy loading, and use modern formats like WebP. The goal is a site that feels instant even when it is loading dozens of high-resolution images.
